Auto Moai (b. 1990, Japan) began creating works in monochrome in 2015. Since 2018, he has been using a lot of colors, and is known for a distinct style in which a highly anonymous “presence” seems to be standing on the canvas. The artist’s style presents the viewers with sceneries that can be found through the removal of elements, uncovering the anonymous relationship between people on the streets, and the relationship between the painting and the viewer.
