JOSH REAMES (American, b. 1985) lives and works in Brooklyn. He layered, confrontational paintings echo the information glut of the digital age. The Dallas-born, New York–based artist pairs art historical techniques including trompe l’oeil and action painting with crass, contemporary modes of communication such as bumper stickers, neon signs, and political memes. Reames often integrates collage and materials such as sawdust and CelluClay into his cacophony of symbols and text. Reames received his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2012 and has exhibited in Los Angeles, New York, Mexico City, Chicago, London, Miami, and beyond.
